In June, The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) hosted its 2025/26 President’s Awards ceremony. Presided over by President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin, the event celebrated the exceptional contributions of nine individuals and two teams, with a further eight Certificates of Merit bestowed. The awards highlight the institution’s commitment to nurturing a performance-driven culture across the University.

The awards for Outstanding Performance in Teaching recognised educators who blend innovation with student engagement. Dr Carman Leung Ka-man (Department of Health and Physical Education) was honoured for her research-informed, studentcentred approach to sports coaching. Simultaneously, Dr Manpreet Singh (Department of Mathematics and Information Technology) received recognition for his ‘SHaPER’ framework, which revitalises STEM education by integrating Generative AI with experiential learning.
In the Research category, five scholars were celebrated for their significant academic and societal impact. Professor Chou Kee-lee (Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies) was commended for his pioneering work addressing loneliness in older adults. Dr Jane Zhan Ying (Department of Curriculum and Instruction) was recognised for developing the world’s first scale for measuring student feedback literacy, now adopted globally. Dr Zoran Poposki (Department of Cultural and Creative Arts), Dr Michael Yeung Kin-chung (Department of Psychology), and Dr Cheng Jinping (Department of Science and Environmental Studies) were also lauded for their respective breakthroughs in interdisciplinary scholarship, cognitive neuropsychology, and sustainable environmental health.
The Knowledge Transfer awards highlighted initiatives that bridge service gaps. Professor Kenneth Sin Kuen-fung (Department of Special Education and Counselling) was recognised for his long-standing dedication to supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) through the SMILE and SuSEN projects. Dr Sun Daner (Department of Mathematics and Information Technology) was similarly honoured for creating the AI-powered ‘ScaffoldiaMyMaths’ platform, which provides vital cognitive support to under-resourced students.
Finally, the Administrative Services Team Awards went to the Department of Early Childhood Education (ECE) and the Department of Curriculum and Instruction (C&I). The ECE team was celebrated for strengthening EdUHK’s global footprint, notably through a World Bank-funded project in Cambodia. The C&I team was commended for the Master of Teaching (MTeach) programme, which has become a distinctive model for nurturing future educators.
Established in 2011/12, the President’s Awards continue to serve as a cornerstone of the University’s mission, reinforcing the vital importance of excellence in teaching, research, and community service.
