Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of its retitling, EdUHK has embarked on an unprecedented period of physical and strategic expansion. Driven by a growing student population and surging demand for taught postgraduate (TPg) programmes, the University has significantly broadened its reach across the New Territories, Kowloon, Hong Kong Island, and extending into the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

New Academic Building
At the heart of this growth is the New Academic Building (NAB) on the Tai Po campus. Officially opened in February, this impressive eight-storey facility spanning 15,000 square metres marks the University’s first major campus development since 1997. Built to support EdUHK’s ‘Education Futures’ blueprint, the NAB provides cutting-edge research and teaching space dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI), STEM, and interdisciplinary studies.

West Kowloon Study Centre (Museum Drive)
Meanwhile, EdUHK has rapidly expanded its urban learning network to accommodate its rising student numbers. In April, the University celebrated the opening of its West Kowloon Study Centre (Museum Drive) inside the iconic M+ Building. Spanning over 9,000 square feet and boasting five interactive, tech-equipped classrooms, this serves as the University's second West Kowloon hub, following the launch of the Austin Road Study Centre last September. Together with established hubs in North Point and Tseung Kwan O, these urban locations form a seamless teaching network connecting education, culture, and the community.

To further bridge academia and industry, EdUHK officially launched the Centre for Knowledge Exchange (CKEx) at Hong Kong Cyberport in June. Established under an MoU with Cyberport, CKEx supports AI & digital innovation research and development teams and start-up companies, and connects academic departments with industry partners to co-organise training programmes on entrepreneurship and employability. Together with EdUHK Centre for Entrepreneurship and Research in Science Park, this dual presence in the local innovation parks reflects EdUHK’s multidisciplinary research strengths and allows collaboration across diverse innovation domains.
Beyond Hong Kong, the University is strengthening its cross-border ties. In November, EdUHK signed a milestone agreement to join the Shenzhen Virtual University Park and establish the EdUHK Shenzhen Research Institute (SZRI). Partnering with the Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Bureau, the SZRI will leverage EdUHK’s expertise in AI-enabled education, health technology, and environmental science to foster high-quality industry-academia-research integration within the GBA.
Through these ambitious developments, EdUHK is not merely expanding its physical footprint; it is actively shaping a dynamic, region-wide ecosystem designed to nurture the next generation of global, multi-skilled talent.
