Summer School 2026 welcomes the world

This July, EdUHK launched its highly anticipated Summer School 2026, welcoming approximately 250 international students from 48 partner institutions worldwide. Building upon the success of last year’s pilot scheme, this significantly expanded edition highlights the University’s rising global reputation and its strengthening network of international partnerships.

The vibrant cohort brought a truly global flavour to the campus, with participants arriving from diverse corners of the world – including Austria, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Czechia, Egypt, Germany, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the UK. Ensuring a warm and smooth transition into campus life were 50 dedicated EdUHK student ambassadors, who provided a supportive and engaging environment for the visitors throughout their stay.

Aligned with the University's forward-thinking ‘Education Futures’ vision, the five-week initiative was coordinated by the Global Affairs Office under the leadership of Vice President (Academic) Professor May Cheng May-hung. The programme seamlessly blended rigorous academic exploration with rich cultural discovery. Participants enrolled in credit-bearing courses offered across the University’s three faculties, gaining fresh academic perspectives from EdUHK's leading scholars.

Beyond the lecture theatres, the Student Affairs Office curated an itinerary of immersive of cultural, historical, and experiential activities designed to showcase Hong Kong's unique identity. Students explored the city’s deep-rooted traditions and local history through guided tours of iconic landmarks, including the historic Man Mo Temple. They also visited the Hong Kong Museum of the War of Resistance and Coastal Defence, which offered a fascinating look into the territory's maritime safeguarding history spanning from the Tang dynasty to the modern era.

Throughout the five weeks, participants were encouraged to embrace every opportunity to learn, network, and experience Hong Kong’s signature blend of tradition and cutting-edge innovation. Through this lively mix of academic engagement and meaningful cultural exchange, the EdUHK Summer School 2026 successfully advances the University’s core mission: nurturing globally minded citizens and fostering international collaboration in higher education.
