The President’s Commendation Scheme recognises students’ outstanding achievements in non-academic activities in arts and culture, community service, leadership, innovation and technology, and sport. After rigorous evaluation three students were awarded for their outstanding performance and contribution in their respective fields, for the 2023-24 academic year.

Jennifer Ho Yan-har Master of Arts in Child and Family Education |
Jennifer is not only passionate about child education but also holds leadership roles in multiple social service organisations, including the Wofoo Leaders’ Network, Hong Kong United Youth Association – Student Network Alliance, the Y. Elites Association – Student Elites, and the Leo District 303 – Hong Kong & Macau, China. Jennifer has extensive experience in organising large-scale events and has been honoured with awards such as Outstanding Volunteer Leader, BEST President Gold Award, and BEST Chapter Silver Award multiple times, due to her exceptional leadership skills. She firmly believes that the mark of an excellent leader is one who strives to lead the team in learning and growing together to achieve common goals.

Wong Man-ching Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Physical Education) |
As well as being a student, Man-ching is a member of the Hong Kong Women’s Beach Volleyball Team. She is grateful to EdUHK for providing students with comprehensive care and support, allowing her to balance her studies at EdUHK with training and competition. Her efforts in 2023 were recognised and rewarded through excellent results with her teammates in the World Championships and Asian Championships. She also had the privilege of participating in the Asian Games. These achievements inspire her to strive to further improve her performance, represent EdUHK and Hong Kong with pride, strengthen her determination to give back to EdUHK and society, and share the joy of sport with others.

Rola Chan Tsz-ying Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Chinese Language) |
Rola has always been actively involved in volunteering activities and cares deeply about society. In her capacity as head of the education working group of the UNESCO Hong Kong Association’s ‘Hong Kong Green Citizen Youth Ambassador’, she feels deeply that because children are future leaders, we must provide quality education for them, while also focusing on and promoting sustainable development, to create favourable environmental conditions for the next generation. As a youth representative of Hong Kong, Rola is active in the international community, advocating the concept of social sustainable development. She has participated in environmental protection activities in Singapore, learning about the importance of fulfilling civic responsibilities and sustainability. These experiences further enrich her knowledge and enhance her determination to practise green living.
